Rural Productive Areas in the Baixada Fluminense

The Rural Environmental Register (Cadastro Ambiental Rural - CAR) is a relevant instrument of agricultural, environmental and economic planning. Information concerning production units are valuable to understand the agricultural system and how to integrate it into the deforestation defense strategy and increase the economic, social and cultural values associated with it.

Established by Law No. 12. 651/2012, within the National System of Information on Environment (Sistema Nacional de Informação sobre Meio Ambiente - SINIMA), and regulated by MMA nº 2, of May 5, 2014, the Rural Environmental Register (Cadastro Ambiental Rural - CAR) is a public electronic register, mandatory for all rural properties, with the purpose of integrating the environmental information of the properties and rural possessions related to Permanent Preservation Areas (Áreas de Preservação Permanente - APP), of restricted use, Legal Reserve, forest remnants and other forms of native vegetation, and consolidated areas, composing a database for control, monitoring, environmental and economic planning and fighting deforestation.
