FIRE ALERTS IN THE BAIXADA FLUMINENSE

Defending the Atlantic Rainforest (Mata Atlântica), reforesting degraded areas and recovering landscapes, involves defending essential services and rights. This map exposes the impact of fire from Jan 2013 to Dec 2020.

Levels selection:

Legend:

The Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) 375 m thermal anomalies / active fire product 1 provides a greater response over fires of relatively small areas and provides improved mapping of large fire perimeters. Consequently, these data are well suited for use in support of fire management (e.g., near real-time alert systems), as well as other science applications requiring improved fire mapping fidelity.
